PIRATICAL THEATER CO. COMMANDEERS GROCERY STORE!
Brooklyn, NY, April, 28th, 2014. On Monday night, don’t be surprised if you see a merry crew of swashbuckling pirates walking down the produce aisle of your local grocery store. That night at 7:30pm, LETTER OF MARQUE THEATER COMPANY is taking over the bar of the Gowanus Whole Foods to perform their new original play, BULLY ME DOWN, written by Nolan Kennedy and directed by Welland H. Scripps. Whole Foods is one of eight non conventional venues BULLY ME DOWN is performing at (for free!) during their five week limited engagement running through Wednesday, May 21st, 2014.
BULLY ME DOWN is a time-bending, interwoven epic that follows the stories of Captain Kidd, Edward Snowden, and a teenager who is a victim of bullying. Featuring re-imagined music performed by the able-bodied ensemble, the play looks at what it means to be respected, what it means to be a hero and just how far we’ll go to play the victim. The production stars Nolan Kennedy, Scarlet M. Rivera, Welland Hardwick Scripps and Jason Tottenham.
Performing BULLY ME DOWN at local bars and public spaces for free serves part of this new non-profit theater company’s mission to present high-quality, professional works at little or no cost to its audiences. “We're trying to bring theater back to the masses by breaking all preconceived notions of where it can happen and what it can look like,” says Co-Captain Nolan Kennedy. Check their website for the venues and dates of all their upcoming performances.
5 WEEK LIMITED ENGAGEMENT - WED, APR 21 - WED, MAY 21, 2014
Tickets are FREE.
