Soundpainting is a language comprised of physical gestures communicated to performers. The gestures are used to sculpt spontaneous compositions in front of an audience. Soundpainting is not only a language but a powerful tool every performer should have in their toolbox, allowing them to reach new limits of their instrument.
Each class will “tune” the group using innovative improv and devising methods, teach students 25 Soundpainting gestures, and culminate in a short in-class composition all within a fun, safe, and challenging classroom environment. Taught by Certified Instructor Nolan Kennedy who has been Soundpainting all over the world since 2007.
Soundpainting is perfect for performers at any point in their career as it helps to shake off old routines, augment stage awareness, and hone technical skills. And, Soundpainting has the unique ability to combine different disciplines into a cohesive piece from scratch.
Whether you’re an actor, dancer, musician, poet, or visual artist, Soundpainting is for you!
Soundpaiting was created by jazz musician/composer Walter Thompson and is “spoken” all over the globe. Checkout the website for the full history: www.soundpainting.com
